I just purchased a computer and my old one had a Pentium 4 and was wondering what the differences were......I know should have asked before the purchase.

It depends on the clockspeed of the Pentium 4. The Core Solo is 1.83GHz. The Core architecture is faster clock-for-clock than the P4 architecture (called Netburst). So it would compare to a P4 clocked at around 3 GHz or so.
