What is the difference between Intel core and Intel viiv technology?
I was looking on dells website and it said I
ntel® Core™ 2 Quad-Core Q6600 Processor (2.4GHz, 8MB cache, 1066MHz FSB)
Intel® Viiv™ Core™ 2 Quad-Core Q6600 Processor (2.4GHz, 8MB cache, 1066MHz FSB)
and as you can see the only difference is the name Intel viiv core and Intel core , what is the difference what does this mean ?
thanks
Viiv is just a label slapped by intel on some machines that combine specific technologies that are more practical for media centers. Usually the processor is dual or quad core. The mainboard consists of a specific Intel chipset. The network adaptor is also specific to a certain kind. The machine itself also may include a built in dvr, support for high definition, a tv tuner, and a media center edition operating system.
All in all, you don't really get much of a difference from either machine. If it were up to me, I'd go with the plain dual core machine. Good luck in your choice!
