Its a typicall and thechnical ques. i hope you'll understand it. I'll tell it wid most basic way to tell

All the data you input goes to CPU (central processing unit) It processes on data Via the processor (The fastest part included speed in GHz).where procesor list the data whether it is character or number etc. then it enlist the operations to be perfomed on data i.e. ADD , MULTIPLY etc. all these temporary data stores on RAM and quickly deleted. RAM is second most speedy thing here(The speed of RAM is in accordance to motherboard support which in turn in accordance to processor.And at last when whole process is done (in few nanoseconds) the data is stored on Hard disk.

Now we hae two conclusions.

a.> Overall speed depends on
1.>Processor - 1.1>Cache memory (L1, L2 , L3)
1.2> Processor speed in GHz
2.> RAM - 2.1>RAM's Memory (512 MB or 1 GB or 2 GB)
2.2> RAM speed (533 FSB 633 FSB or else)
3.> Hard disk optimum ideal speed (It is specified like 1.5 GB/s or 3 GB/s)

b.> Never put two RAM's of different speed in Slots as it can conflict. Eg. you are performing a calculation. Both are giev half-half part . one wud give you result faster while other will give you slowly and hence there would be a conflict

I'd not included or explained things like registers , cache memory ALU etc. as it will elongate the answere and will be complicated to understand
