Trading Computers Guide: The Importance of the Processor & Motherboard in your Trading Computer

My Name is Eddie Z, I've been a full time day trader and financial market participant for nearly 23 years. Additionally, I have been taking computers apart and putting them back together since 1980. During that time, I have come to truly understand computer technology from a traders point of view. As a full time day trader myself, and with my technology background, I can offer a unique perspective into what traders really need in terms of trading computer technology.

Most computer users do not realize the importance of the processor and motherboard. To obtain an awesome system, you need to know about computer processors (also known as the CPU) and the best place to compare processors is at cpubenchmark dot net, From there you can click on Common CPUs and High End CPUs. This website is a great resource for trading computer users. It's a pace tos see how various processors before against each other in benchmark test. The website also happens to be a good resource for other computer components as well.

For traders, the most reliable Processor is still going to be Intel and the minimum requirement in terms of speed will be the Intel i Series . As a trader, I personally recommend Intels flagship processor the core i7 series. The i7 930, 950, and 965 will all do the trick. The fastest processor to date for trading computer user is the i7 980X Extreme Edition. It's pretty expensive, but may be worth the extra money for extreme users and users who want processor that will withstand the fast pace of technology change. Intel does have another line of lightning fast processors called the Xeon series but these chips are primarily used in servers; traders really have no need this processor! I have seen trading computer companies trying to sell this processor to trader as a consumer product. Do not make this mistake when purchasing a trading computer.

The next most important component you need to think about is the motherboard. Reliability and quality are everything in a motherboard! The best brands in motherboards are Asus, EVGA and Gigabyte. The 2 best and most reliable motherboards in my opinion, are the Asus Saberthooth X58 & the Asus P6X58D. The Sabertooth motherboard has been certified tested to military standards. This mobo has passed tests in extreme conditions such as abnormal levels of heat and vibration. In the long run, this mobo will prove to be extremely reliable. Other features of this board include SATA III data transfer between hard drives and RAM, USB 3.0 and an incredible 5 Year Warranty. The Asus P6X58D is also an excellent mobo. Features include 2 Internet Ports, SATA III and USB 3.0. If you stick with Asus, EVGA or Gigabyte you can't go wrong in choosing a motherboard. Stay away from no name brands or builders who tell you they have a proprietary motherboard. This usually mean they are using cheap imitation parts.
